What is Banana Nice Cream?
Banana nice cream is a frozen dessert made with a frozen banana base. If you have frozen bananas and a little bit of milk (or any kind of liquid), then you can make banana nice cream!
Banana nice cream was first created as a homemade vegan ice cream recipe substitute, but even if you’re not vegan, you will still love it! The reason it’s called “nice cream” is because it mimics classic ice cream, but is better for you. It’s also sometimes called banana soft serve because if you eat it straight out of the food processor, it’s a similar consistency to soft serve.
Below we are sharing a super basic banana nice cream recipe that you can easily deviate from if you’d like to use additional frozen fruit or add-in your own flavor combinations!

Ingredients
- 4 cups frozen banana slices ~2 large bananas
- 2-4 tablespoons unsweetened almond milk any kind of milk will work
Instructions
Place frozen banana slices and 2 tablespoons unsweetened almond milk into a high-speed food processor or blender.
Blend on high for 1 to 2 minutes stopping to scrape the sides every so often.
If your blender is having a hard time blending the bananas, add more almond milk by the tablespoon.
Once pureed together, your banana nice cream should be like a super thick smoothie or soft serve. Option to eat immediately or to transfer to a parchment-lined bread pan to freeze for later.
Freeze banana nice cream for 1 to 2 hours so that it hardens enough to scoop like ice cream, but isn't too hard where you can't scoop it.
Tips & Notes
- Option to double or triple this recipe.
- Storage: Store in an air-tight glass container (covered) in the freezer. Thaw for around 30 minutes before scooping and serving.

easy to throw together and anything with peanut butter is a winner for me. I like the bitter edge of the brewers yeast so that didn’t bother me. However, I found my mixture too crumbly to hold together after carefully measuring everything. I didn’t want to add more honey to bind as I found the honey flavor already strong and didn’t want the added sugar so I added about 1/2 c more peanut butter. That did the trick. I’ve had luck with other milk boosting recipes that feature brewers yeast and flax so I am confident these will be a good treat to help with production

Just read this recipe sent from a cousin. So here’s the scoop on the Chocolate Banana Nice Cream. (1) The mixing would not even begin in my Vitamix until I added lots more almond milk. Added 1 Tbsp at a time as directed, and needed quite a few. (2) Way too much cocoa for my taste in the recipe. Needed a bit of sweetening. Perhaps lessening the cocoa will rectify both issues. (3) The finished product definitely needs freezing. FINAL OPINION: once changes were made it was really quite good. I will no doubt make this again (with much less cocoa) and also try some other flavors. Thanks for sharing all your recipes. Enjoying your blog.

I absolutely love banana soft serve and Minneapolis in the spring and summer time. Rides around lake calhoun are by far my favorite, and did you hear that Minneapolis was ranked second on the ACSM fit index!!
I’ll be heading back to Minneapolis in just a few weeks so if you ever have meet ups I would love to do that!! 🙂
